About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding a federal solicitation for a DC power supply. The solicitation seeks a 50V, 1500A, 15KW DC power supply and requests clarification on several aspects of the requirement. Questions addressed include whether two output specifications listed are for one or two separate requirements, the manufacturer name, definition of "interlock shutdown", and more detailed electrical specifications including input requirements, output regulation and protection, front panel controls, analog and digital interfaces, capability for redundant operation, and maximum output power. The responses provide additional details on the desired specifications, clarifying areas of ambiguity, but indicate the supply is not intended for battery charging.

Questions and Answers
1. The attached RFQ lists two completely different requirements (50VDC, 1500A at 15KW
*the title of the requirement* ) and (50VDC, 1000A at 75KW * what is on the specs*).
Are these two different requirements?Do you have any additional information that explains this requirement in more detail? Or, do you have a graph of the power curve that details the requirement?
I realized I made a typo. This is for DC Power Supply 50V, 1500A, 75KW
2. Would it be possible please to get the manufacturer name for this requirement.
Having sent it off to various suppliers for DC Power Supplies distributors, they say the description is not correct or does not make sense actually. Would appreciate you advising with the manufacturer name if at all possible.
The manufacturer name is Magna-Power.
3. Please clarify what you mean by interlock shutdown.
The DC power supply shall have analog input controls and interlock shutdown.
Interlock shutdown means the power supply shall have the output disabled with a dry contact or logic level signal.
4. You will need to provide a more complete electrical specification for the power supply you require.
Input: are we to conclude active PFC, is there a THD specification.
Output: no specified regulation, OVP, or short ckt protect.
What is required of the front panel controls.
You specify analog control and power supply shall be programmable using LXI or RS-232. What is being controlled, what is the +/- output voltage range you are looking for You specify master slave , is product therefore a redundant, N+1 application with active current share. What is maximum output power potential?
Is this by chance a battery charging power supply?
Input: are we to conclude active PFC, is there a THD specification.
• The power supply shall have active power factor correction (PFC)
• No THD specification
Output: no specified regulation, OVP, or short ckt protect.
• The Line Regulation shall be 0.05% of maximum output voltage in voltage mode and 0.1% of maximum current in current mode
• The Load Regulation shall be 0.05% of maximum output voltage in voltage mode and 0.1% of maximum current in current mode.
• Over voltage protection (OVP) shall be up to 110% of the full scale rated voltage.
• The power supply shall have short circuit protection that disable the output of the power supply when the current exceeds the rating of the power supply.
What is required of the front panel controls.
• The Front Panel shall control the following:
o Output voltage setpoint o Output current setpoint o Output on/off o Over voltage setpoint o Over voltage trip reset o Reset interlock shutdown o Local/Remote operation
You specify analog control and power supply shall be programmable using LXI or RS-232.
What is being controlled, what is the +/- output voltage range you are looking for
• The Power Supply shall have analog inputs to control the voltage setpoint and current setpoint.
• The analog input shall be able to control 1% or less of full scale output voltage or current.
• The LXI or RS-232 interface shall control voltage setpoint (0.1% of FS), current setpoint (0.5% of FS), over voltage setpoint (1% of FS), provide voltage data (0.2% of FS) and current data (0.4% of FS).
You specify master slave , is product therefore a redundant, N+1 application with active current share. What is maximum output power potential?
• The power supply shall be able to operate in master slave current share with at least one other power supply for a total of 150 KW.
Is this by chance a battery charging power supply?”
• No
