STATEMENT OF WORK

Background

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the National Toxicology Program is producing scientific knowledge that promotes individual and public health. Our Institute is uniquely positioned to help prevent disease and transform new scientific knowledge into improvements in human health. The mission of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences is to discover how the environment affects people to promote healthier lives.

Objective

Because of their roles and functions our personnel require cleaned and pressed uniforms and lab coats. The supplies needed to meet these requirements have traditionally been provided through contractual relationships with venders that specialize in providing uniforms, linens, and entrance mats; as well as, the ancillary services, such as hospital quality linens to support NIEHS Clinical Research Unit, necessary to maintain the cleanliness and on-site availability of these specific items.

To fulfill this requirement, we are soliciting bids from venders capable of providing cleaning and delivery services for specific items that will help maintain the clean, safe, and orderly running of the Institute.

Scope

The Contractor shall provide rental and cleaning services for uniforms, lab coats, linens, towels, exam curtains and mats as ordered by the Project Officer/COR or Alternate Project Officer/COR as listed in Linen Description and Amounts page 5. If replacement of linens is necessary new garments will be provided within two weeks. Requested new garments for new employees shall be provided within two weeks. The standard to be used for determining the acceptability of the garment's condition shall be the industry standard applied to such items when routinely furnished to the public on a rental basis. The Contractor shall maintain quality control procedures to identify the need to replace garments prior to Government instruction; however, the Project Officer/COR shall have the right to require the replacement of garments when their condition has clearly deteriorated to an unacceptable degree.
