Answer: There is no set time required. Most past visits have been completed in less than 1 hr.

5. Are there any pest populations that are recurring? Where are they recurring? What has been done in the past?

Answer: Ants, wood roaches (individuals), flying insects. Various areas in buildings. We have sealed ingress routs, set up fly lights, treated with pesticides.

6. Is the new vendor expected to purchase and install new equipment such as rodent stations and fly lights or is the equipment the property of NIEHS? If the new vendor is expected to purchase equipment, how many stations, fly lights, etc. are expected to be installed, as well as what type and where?

Answer: NIEHS has supplied the installed fly lights, contractor maintains them.

Contractor supplies and maintains rodent stations (currently 14) and monitor traps in food service areas (currently 3). However, it is the contractor’s responsibility to determine proper equipment necessary to control pests.

7. Is that set up currently sufficient to meet the needs? Is there a map of stations and fly light placements?

Answer: Current setup is sufficient for most pest needs. Most reports are individual invaders, with the exception of ants. There are numerous incidents of ants infiltrating the building each year.

8. Are Woman Minority Business Entity (WMBE) or HUBZone certified companies given preference in this bid?

Answer: This acquisition is exclusively set aside for small businesses.

9. Pests, including individual termites, fire ants, snakes and others are to be addressed. Are you requiring the technician that services the account on a regular basis to hold all those certifications (Structural P Phase, W Phase, LE, and Wildlife Resource Damage Control Agent license/certifications)?

Answer: No, most reported incidents can be managed by a technician with Structural P phase certification. However, the contractor is expected to have access to personnel certified to mitigate all instances listed in the scope of work.
