Amendment 0001
M&R MMB, USCG STA Sand Key 06/10/2019
RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS
Q1: Refer to Drawing A-103, Notes 1,2,&3 - These notes state to inspect the roof for repairs, then Note 4 refers to specification section 07 32 14 for repairs. Since the extent of these repairs cannot be determined prior to inspection and therefore prior to bid, are we to provide costs for just the roof inspections? How will the roof repairs be addressed by the USCG?
A1: The inspection should be included in the bid as well as roof repair of the two locations identified on the roof plan and in the photos. Any additional repair will be addressed after the inspection report is submitted to the USCG.
Q2: The Keynotes on Sheet A-103 List certain inspections to the existing roof with the reports going to the contracting officer. How are these to be paid? There is no way the cost can be included in a bid without a Definite Quantity.
A2: The whole roof shall be included in the inspection.
Q3: Detail A2/A-501 shows a continuous angle that secures the Guard Shack floor to the existing slab.
Detail C3/S-501 calls for a SS L6x3 ½ x 0’6” at each corner of the Guard Shack
A3: The angle shall be sized as detailed in the structural drawings. In the areas where the wood blocking and wood beam are exposed install metal flashing covering the whole face of the wood.
Q4: The Window shown on Sheet A-502 s shown to be 53’0” wide
A4: 2’-2 ½” for window and the door should be 3’-0” by 7’-0”
Q5: Detail A2/A-501 Shows 5/8” paperless gyp. board on interior walls of guard shack. Details B2/A- 501 & B3/A-501 show that new gyp board is 1/2”
A5: 1/2” paperless gypsum board is acceptable
Q6: Is any roof REPAIR to be included in our Base Bid? Item 001 Base Bid in Section B of the solicitation does not refer to roof repair. If repair is to be included, please quantify types and quantities to bid.
A6: Refer to A1.
Q7: Does the solicitation only required indicated ROOF INSPECTION and a report provided to the Contracting Officer with recommended repairs?
A7: Refer to A1.
Q8: There is a router located in the south east corner of the galley adjacent to the OIC Office on the work side of the temporary barrier. Who will be responsible for moving this?
A8: The Contractor shall be responsible for moving. Coordinate with COR onsite for relocation of this item temporarily during construction and budget accordingly
Q9: Does the temporary barrier wall in the galley area have any special requirements such as structural, weather barrier, insulated or just an enclosed physical separation?
A9: Provide a physical barrier which can support a 5 psf partition load, be self-supporting, and positively attached at its perimeter to support these criteria. The wall should be sealed to prevent translation of dust and debris into the adjacent areas.
Q10: Is there a preferred HVAC control manufacturer to be used?
A10: No preferred HVAC control manufacturer
Q11: Can a single person be Site Superintendent, Quality Control and Safety for this project.
Specifications only require Site Superintendent.
A11: Yes. A competent person as defined per OSHA shall be present onsite at all times during construction. This individual should have authority to direct and avoid/prevent unsafe conditions. In addition see specification section 01 11 00, 1.5 Supervision: Have at least one qualified supervisor capable of reading, writing, and conversing fluently in the English language on the job site during working hours. In addition, if a Quality Control (QC) representative is required on the contract, then that individual shall also have fluent English communication skills.
Q12: Can reference drawings showing dimensions of the MPB be provided?
A12: Drawings are to scale as indicated.
Q13: Two details on drawing sheet A101 Second Floor Plan refer to B3/A202. B3/A202 does not exist on plans. Please clarify.
A13: Detail symbols referencing B3/A202 shall be ignored.
Q14: There are 6 cannister lights in the passageway soffit between the galley and the berthing areas. Are these required to be replaced and if so what type of replacement fixture is required?
A14: No, cannister fixtures are not included in scope of work.
Q15: I need to see if you can provide the Report on the Mold Assessment and the Asbestos Survey report on this project?
A15: The USCG Sand Key’s previous Asbestos Survey is provided for your reference.
No visible mold was observed during the initial assessment and mold spore counts collected via air sampling did not indicate elevated mold levels within the building. Several areas did exhibit elevated moisture levels and are likely to contain mold growth. If required, mold abatement will need to be performed by a licensed remediation contractor following the mold remediation protocol in the specs (Section 02 85 00.00 20).
