To cover unavoidable inaccuracies of dredging processes, removal of material to a depth of two feet below the elevation specified and within the dredging limits will be allowed. The elevation specified for the CGC ASPEN mooring is -24ft. MLLW. The elevation specified for the SF small boat basin is -10ft. MLLW for Area A and -14ft. MLLW for Area B. Note the transition area between Area A and Area B, which requires a depths between -10ft.
MLLW to -14ft. MLLW.
B. Side Slope Prism: Dredging on the side slope is authorized for this project. Excavation areas at the toe of the slope at the berth area boundary is allowed to capture sloughed material in the side slope prism. The side slopes at the side limits of the dredge area shall be 3H:1V (horizontal:
vertical) on the. Project the side slope from the dredged bottom elevation at the limits of the dredge area line outward until it intersects the existing bottom of the adjacent waterway. Excavation areas cannot extend beyond the boundary of the berth, or deeper than the unpaid overdepth elevation. Dredging on side slopes shall follow, as closely as practicable, the lines indicated on the reference drawings.
C. Slides: In the event sliding occurs in any excavation after its completion but prior to its acceptance, the Contractor shall remove such portions of the slide at no additional cost to the Government. Particular attention shall be provided to the slope nearest to the eastern edge of the float dock.
1.05 OBSTRUCTION OF WORK AREA: Sector San Francisco homeports four coastal patrol boats, seven small boats and a buoy tender (CGC ASPEN), all which may be present during dredging operations. For this reason, the Contractor is to coordinate with the COR on scheduling activities. Once on site, and if working in proximity to the vessels, keep close communication with the Captain of the buoy tender, and the small boats to ensure appropriate safety zones are observed.
The Contractor will be required to conduct the work in such manner as to avoid obstruction to USCG operations and navigation. In case the Contractor’s plan so obstructs the navigable water as to make difficult, or endanger the passage of vessels, said plant shall be promptly moved on the approach of any vessel to such an extent as may be necessary to afford a practicable passage. Upon completion of the work, the Contractor shall promptly remove his plant, including equipment, ranges, buoys, debris boom, and other marks placed under the contract in navigable waters or onshore. The USCG will need access to the facilities during the work period and in some instances it may be an emergency. If required, the Contractor’s plant must have the ability to be maneuvered from the boat basin immediately following direction from the USCG.
2.01 Not used.
