RFI Question and Answers:
USCGC Stingray FY20 UPDD
70Z080‐20‐Q‐P4519800
Question 1:
Work item 2 para 3.2.1 states
Prior to shaft realignment, the Contractor shall ensure the following conditions are met for at least 24 hours before the alignment check:
The vessel is waterborne with fuel and water filled to normal operating levels, a minimum of three‐ quarters capacity.
Is the meaning of "are met" to be understood that the Government will provide for the fuel and water, And Contractor is just to verify these conditions are "met"?
Answer:
No, the contractor is responsible for meeting that totality of that requirement and must therefore be able to provide whatever materials (fuel, water) are needed to meet the three‐quarters capacity for realignment.
Question 2:
Reading the work item 1, ; 1.2 GFP calls out for Wartsila parts but 3.1.2 and 4.2 state Chesterton Seal Which brand shaft seal is on the boat?
Answer:
For clarification, the Chesterton seal kit is the shaft seal kit that will be needed during the shaft's repair.
The Wartsilia EL Seals Kit is the rudder seal, and is also listed as a GFE since it will be tampered with during the removal of the rudder as per the Interferences section 3.1.4.
