Questions and Answers (Q&As) Solicitation Number: 6991PE23Q000003
FOR:
PF-612 HARRIER Hauling and Coating
1. Question:
1.8 Shafting
Please clarify if you want new full shaft seal assemblies or are you just looking for service to the existing. In the past Harrier has had Duramax DXU-2000 shaft seals. It appears that these have been discontinued. Can you provide some direction as to what kind of shaft seal MARAD would like? OR will MARAD provide material?
Answer: New shaft seal assemblies are required and shall be furnished by the contractor. SBRF recommends the PSS Pro Shaft Seal (https://www.shaftseal.com/pss-pro-shaft-seal.html). The contractor may propose a higher quality seal for consideration.
2. Question:
1.9 Fender
Will the rub rail material be government furnished? Do you anticipate that the studs can be used or will we need to renew?
Answer: The rub rail will not be government furnished. The bolts of the studs are stripped and need to be renewed.
3. Question:
Can you advise me on clarifying if the "freeboard" is to be considered just up to the rub rail, or if it includes the superstructure and deck coatings as well. I believe it is just to the rub rail, correct?
Answer: Yes, the freeboard is just to the rub rail.
