RE: Barge FB-670

Proposed Cathodic Protection Plan

Cathodic protection for the underwater hull

• Sixteen (16) AMD-3365 (37 lb) aluminum anodes should be installed on the underwater hull. The locations and quantity of specified anodes should be as depicted in the attached illustrative drawing.

• The anodes should be mounted on ½” diameter stainless steel bolts that have been welded to the hull.

• All anodes to be Reliance AMD-3365 or equivalent.

• This cathodic protection design assumes that the hull is well coated with an inert epoxy anticorrosion barrier system that is applied to a properly prepared surface according to the coating systems manufacturer’s specifications.

• Anode life expectancy for this design is ten years.

• Hull protection readings should be taken with a portable corrosion test meter periodically (at least once a year), logged and retained for historical reference.

Respectfully submitted, Theodore Swartz
