About this file

This document provides details for a federal transportation contract opportunity to improve Campo Road near the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge in California. The project consists of extending turn lanes, improving sight lines, and constructing a new parking lot. Major work elements include excavation, borrow material, subbase, aggregate base, asphalt pavement, an ultra-thin bonded wearing course, and markings. Significant estimated quantities include 3,400 cubic yards of excavation, 2,500 cubic yards of unclassified borrow, 2,000 cubic yards of subbase, 2,430 tons of aggregate base, 1,222 tons of asphalt concrete pavement, and 470 tons of ultra-thin bonded wearing course. The notice to proceed will be issued in late summer 2019 by the Federal Highway Administration - Central Federal Lands Highway Division, with construction expected to commence that same period and continue through the winter months. Delays of up to 20 minutes are anticipated during construction.
