Q&R (6-11)

Q6: Are there any hazardous materials present?

R6: There are no known or suspected hazardous materials present.

Q7: Is there a clear ground perimeter around the building for erecting scaffolding?

R7: There is a 1000 gallon above ground fuel tank next to the building that will have to be worked around.

Q3: SOW Item #1, Section 1.1, 1.b, Says “Note – building segments are held together with post tensioned cables, do not expose or alter cables.” Can you confirm if any tensioned cables are located within the areas of the deteriorating concrete roof edge perimeter that is being removed?

R3: The post tensioned cables are contained within sections of pipe, this pipe is run on the building interior side of the exposed reinforcing. If pipe sections are encountered during concrete removal, those sections of pipe contain the post tensioning cables, and these pipes are not be cut. It is anticipated that sound concrete will be encountered at the depth of the first layer of exposed reinforcing. If this is not the case, notify the COR before continuing work.

Q4: 1. E. “Place concrete at roof edge for perimeter areas where concrete has been removed. Use forms and pour Concrete mix MS as manufactured by Quikrete.” Is this specifying Shotcrete MS as manufactured by Quikrete?

R4: No, please see Amendment 03. Known acceptable product: FX-225 Non-Shrink Underwater Grout with FX-752 Epoxy Bonding Agent by Simpson Strong-Tie Company Inc.

Q6: Regarding SOW Item #1, 3. Paint building exterior, a paint exterior walls with 2 coats of MasterProtect HB 400 Water based, high build, 100% acrylic water coating.

a. The MasterProtect HB 400 Technical Data Guide States, under “How to apply surface Preparation”; “Concrete substrates should be fully cured.” Concrete fully cures in 28 days, the contract period is only 30 calendar days, is the contract period being extended to meet this manufacturer's requirement or is the contractor being directed to apply the waterproofing prior to the new concrete repairs being fully cured?

R6: a. The new grout can be painted after curing for 7 days.

Q7: Is there a Specification for the new EPDM Roofing?

c. There are two doors/frames to the ATCBI shelter.

Q9: I would recommend an elastomeric coating for the roof, we use PROREZ products, you would have no seams to contend with and it would last a lifetime and totally seal the top of the building from all weather. I can send you info on it if you are interested.

R9: Offerors are advised to price out the proposed work according to the SOW. Any substitutes must meet or be equal to the item referenced in the SOW. Substitutes will be reviewed and they will be approved or rejected accordingly.

Q10: I would recommend a LOXON XP product from SW for the sides of the building, another product that we have used to seal concrete with great success over the years. I can send you more info if you are interested.
