Scope of Work for the Design-Build of Mission Bay VOR Boat Dock Repair Project
Scope of work to be provided includes design and build for Boat Dock repairs and various items at the San Diego, CA VOR facility. The work includes the following:
1) Handrail – Remove existing handrail. Install new handrail that extends from the boat dock, pass the metal gate, up to the transition to the wooden walkway/boardwalk. The new handrail will be stainless steel, 42-inch height, with toe boards to meet OSHA standards.
2) Obstruction Light - Replace the obstruction light on the boat deck in its entirety. Install new cables; re-use conduit.
3) Dock Lights - Install (2) LED light fixtures with timers. Mount light fixtures on the gate, each facing opposite direction (to illuminate the boat dock area and the boardwalk area). Mount one timer on the VOR gate; mount the other timer outside the metal gate. Install conduit and cable from the spare circuit breakers in Panel C and incorporate the conduit run with obstruction light circuit (in Note 2).
4) Sign – Install (3) signs on the end pile of the boat dock ‘Government Facility Do Not Dock Boat’. Black letter on reflective white. Sign&letter dimensions to fit the width of the pile.
5) Dock – Remove and dispose of the existing boat dock. Install a new boat dock of same dimensions as the existing. The new boat dock will have stainless steel hardware and locking bolts that are suitable for salt water and is equipped with:
a. Boat safety rubber bumpers
b. Non-skid deck surface
c. Pylon guide, pile rollers/hangers
d. Three (3) cleats on each side of the dock for a total of six (6)
Provide the best product in current marine technology.
NOTE: Provide a separate line item for the new boat dock with the following dimensions: 4 feet longer and 6 feet wider than existing dock.
6) Metal Gate - Replace the gate with a stainless steel gate similar in design.
Use the grade fit for marine applications.
7) Wood Deck – Replace the wood deck in its entirety with non-skid decking material.
8) Local Permits – The contractor will acquire ALL local permits.
9) Review – The contractor will submit the design to the City of San Diego, local Fish and Wildlife, Army Corp of Engineer for review and permit.
10) Important Notes - Construction period is from October thru March. No deviation due to protected species breeding season in the work area.
11) Egress - All egress must be on the walkway/boardwalk.
12) Design – Provide engineering design and construction documents for approval by FAA. Construction drawings must be stamped. Drawings shall be in accordance with NEC, current FAA-STD-19&FAA 1217 standards and all applicable Marine Standards. Drawings shall include site layout, details, etc.
13) Demolition – Site shall remain clean at all times. Remove construction debris from the work area.
14) General – All work shall be executed within normal business hours unless specified differently by the various local jurisdictions.
15) Transportation of Tools and Construction Materials - This facility is located on an island off the coast of San Diego. Contractor shall ship materials to and from the island via boat. The Contractor must provide his/her own transportation to and from the facility for the duration of the project.
