Scope of Work for the Mission Bay VOR Design and Build Repair Work
Scope of work to be provided includes design and build for Boat Dock repairs and various items at the San Diego, CA VOR facility. The work includes the following:
1) Handrail - Replace existing handrail on the boat pier. The new handrail will be stainless steel, 42-inch height, with toe boards to meet OSHA standards, and extends from the boat dock to the metal gate.
2) Obstruction Lights - Replace the obstruction light on the boat deck in its entirety (the light fixtures, conduit & cables from C/B #7 in Panel C inside the VOR to the new fixtures). Existing electrical wiring may be contaminated with ACM.
3) Dock Light - Install a light fixture on the dock for workers who come out to the site at night (for safety reasons). This light should not be on all the time but only controlled by a switch with limited access so that it can only be activated by FAA site technicians.
4) Sign - Install sign(s) on the boat dock ‘Government Facility Do Not Dock Boat’
5) Dock - Replace the boat dock. Use stainless steel hardware and locking bolts that are suitable for salt water. Replace all hardware and re-drill if necessary to ensure proper operation.
a) Replace all wood with specially treated wood for marine environment.
b) Install boat safety rubber bumpers
c) Replace the non-skid deck surface
d) Replace the pylon guide, pile rollers/hangers. Contractor shall provide the best/current product in marine technology
e) Replace/fix rollers
f) Replace the existing 4 corroded cleats on the boat dock and install 2 new cleats. Three (3) cleats on each side of the dock for a total of six (6).
6) Metal Gate - Replace the gate.
7) Pontoon - Remove and cleanout all marine built-ups underneath the pontoon.
8) Local Permits - Submit design to the City of San Diego Environmental Office and Engineering Department for review.
9) Environmental Review – Submit design to local Fish and Wildlife for environmental
Review and Permit.
10) Important Notes - Construction period is from October thru March. No deviation due to protected species breeding season in the work area.
11) Pre-bid Job-walk – Although some pictures are provided, a pre-bid job walk is highly recommended. .
12) Egress - All egress must be on the walkway.
13) Design – Provide city of San Diego permittable engineering design and construction documents for approval by FAA. Construction drawings must be stamped.
Drawings shall be in accordance with NEC, FAA-STD-19, FAA 1217 standards and all applicable Marine Standards. Drawings shall include site layout, details, etc.
14) Demolition – Site shall remain clean at all times. Remove construction debris from the work area.
15) General – All work shall be executed within normal business hours unless specified differently by the various local jurisdictions.
16) Transportation of Tools and Construction Materials - This facility is located on an island off the coast of San Diego. Contractor shall ship materials to and from the island via boat. The Contractor must provide his/her own transportation to and from the facility for the duration of the project.
