About this file
This document is a set of vendor questions and answers for Solicitation No. 69056724Q000017 for a Cylindrical Specimen End Grinder system.
The key details are as follows:
This is a total small business set-aside solicitation for a Cylindrical Specimen End Grinder system, under NAICS code 334516 with a size standard of 1,000 employees. The solicitation is being conducted via FAR Subpart 12.6, Streamlined Procedures for Evaluation and Solicitation for Commercial Items. One vendor question addressed the requirement for multiple cylinder jigs, and the agency clarified that the intent is for a single jig to accommodate the required number of specimens, rather than mandating multiple jigs.

Per the RFQ, there appears to be a requirement for multiple version if the jigs (see 4.A.iv). Per the manufacturer, that each of the jigs can hold 3 cylinders at a time and they can grind 3 cylinders at a time. There will be no returning the extra holders if the end user made a mistake. Please verify that they really want that many cylinder holders.
The text identified is specific to the capacity of the machine. The intent is to state that the machine shall be capable of handling the noted quantity of specimens of a specific size during a single grinding operation. This is not a statement as to requisite number of specimen jigs.
The ultimate intent is that a single jig will accommodate the required number of specimens as noted in Section C paragraph 4.A.iv. If a single jig will facilitate multiple specimen diameters, that would be satisfactory too.
