This is a brand-name justification.
Checkpoint is currently the security solution CPSC uses for IT network security. It is tightly integrated into CPSC’s desktop and server environment. This is support for existing software that is integrated into CPSC IT infrastructure. Changing to another security solution is not possible at this time. The CIO has directed that CPSC must maintain our security environment in its current state. Changing to another brand could compromise system functionality. There is no guarantee that another brand, prior to extensive testing, would provide continuity of same services as mandated by CIO policy and OMB guidance. Mandates for high levels of security are directed by OMB. Continued service with Checkpoint assures existing services remain complaint without a break in service to include consistency in security measures. Checkpoint is already successfully configured and has complete compatibility with CPSC’s network. This results in making threat mitigation fast and reliable.
