About this file
This is a Material Ordering Data sheet for nickel and nickel alloy castings per ASTM A494/A494M standard dated March 1, 2022.
The procurement requires 4 cast rings in Grade M30C designation. The material shall be delivered in as-cast heat-treat condition and repair welding is permitted. Rough machined castings must undergo dye penetrant (PT) inspection on all surfaces per Technical Manual S9074-AS-GIB-010/271 with acceptance criteria established by MIL-STD-2035A, Class 3. Marking for identification is required on all materials. All unit, intermediate, and shipping containers must be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129, with additional instructions available in DLA Procurement Note C20. The specification references ASTM A781/A781M for source inspection requirements. Any specifications referenced in this ordering data sheet must be provided at the latest revision available at the time of contract award. The document includes detailed chemical composition requirements and heat-treat specifications across multiple grades and classes, with specific parameters for elements such as carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, aluminum, cobalt, titanium, and vanadium. The material specifications are presented in tabular format with minimum and maximum allowable percentages for each element based on the selected grade and class.
