Collector Well 103 Pump Motor #3 Reconditioning Specifications

This document contains reconditioning specifications for the City of Columbus, Ohio for a 250 horsepower vertical pump motor located at the Parsons Avenue Water Plant. The motor, a US Motor model rated at 250 HP, 460 Volt, 3-phase, 60 Hz with 1185 RPM and Frame 447TPA, requires comprehensive reconditioning services including disassembly, inspection, testing, cleaning, rewinding if necessary, and reassembly. The scope of work encompasses thirteen distinct service items, including electrical testing both before and after work (DC high-pot, polarization index, phase balance, and winding resistance measurements), mechanical inspection and measurement recording, bearing journal and rotor assembly evaluation, defective winding identification and repair or replacement, stator steam cleaning and varnish ceramic coating application per inverter duty specifications, dynamic balancing, thermal overload sensor verification, bearing installation with specified lubricants, final testing and painting, and documentation delivery. The motor, weighing approximately 2,100 pounds, is to be picked up and transported to the repair facility, with completed work to be returned F.O.B. to the Parsons Avenue Water Plant at 5600 Parsons Avenue, Lockbourne, Ohio 43137.

The specifications require that all electrical testing data be recorded and furnished with the returned unit, mechanical measurements be documented, bearing journals be inspected for wear, and all findings regarding defective windings be reported prior to reconditioning. The motor must be equipped with one thrust bearing filled with Mobil SHC 624 ISO 32 oil and one standard ball bearing with EP-2 grease per factory specifications. All existing RTDs, thermal sensors, and wiring must be preserved and checked for functionality to ensure two operational thermal overload sensors remain on the motor. The final motor must be painted to match its existing color and delivered with all supporting documentation and reports.

Bottom Bearing: Standard Thrust Bearing, #6215-J.

Estimated Weight: 2,100 lbs.

Services Requested:

1. Pick up and transport to repair facility.

2. Perform the following electrical tests, both As Received and Upon Completion:

-D.C. high-pot of the windings.

-Polarization Index.

-Balance check all three phases.

-Measure winding resistance.

-Record data and furnish with returned unit.

3. Check all terminations on terminal strip and assure each wire is numbered, if not renumber all wires as necessary.

4. Check and make sure winding phase orientation stays the same and plant markings identifying the phase, remain intact.

5. Make sure that numbers are intact on existing terminal strips, repair as needed.

6. Completely disassemble, clean, record mechanical measurements, check bearing journals, housings, rotor assembly, run-out, and inspect other all parts of motor.

7. Find and repair/replace defective (shorted to ground) motor winding(‘s). Report on findings. Motor rewind is to be done, unless after reviewing the findings it is determined not needed.

8. Steam clean and bake stator, varnish (ceramic coating) windings meeting specifications for inverter duty motor, per factory specifications.

9. Assure that each motor winding has two functional thermal overload sensors. Check and preserve all existing RTD’s, sensors, and other wiring.

10. Perform dynamic balance of rotating assembly, reassemble motor, provide and install One thrust bearing filled with Mobil SHC 624 ISO 32 oil and One standard ball bearing filled with EP-2 grease, per factory specifications.

11. Test and paint motor to match existing color.

12. Provide all documentation and reports.

13. Return motor F.O.B. the Parsons Avenue Water Plant, 5600 Parsons Avenue Lockbourne, Ohio 43137.
