About this file

This is an Appendix document for the Dream Canyon Project in Colorado, detailing the Feature Work Table for Item 4.0 Install Mine Closures. The project involves the closure of multiple abandoned mine openings across the Dream Canyon site using various methods tailored to specific geological and environmental conditions. The work encompasses 18 distinct mine features, including shafts, stopes, and adits with depths ranging from 5 to 100 feet. Closure methods vary by feature type and include machine backfill with onsite material, rock bulkheads with bat ladders, grated shaft closures with bat cupolas, and corrugated steel pipe installations. Storm water sediment control measures and biodegradable waddles (25 linear feet per feature) are required across all closures. Bat exclusion protocols and specialized bat access features (bat grates, bat ladders, and bat cupolas) are integrated into multiple closure designs to protect wildlife during and after closure operations.

The work description table provides specific technical specifications for each feature, including excavation dimensions, erosion assessments, present conditions, UTM coordinates (NAD83), and detailed closure instructions. Referenced sections and standard drawings (Sections 2, 8, 10, 11, 13, and 14; Standard Drawings #4, #5, #6.1, #6.2, and #10) provide additional guidance for construction. Certain features require specialized materials such as polyurethane foam (5 cubic yards for features GF007a and GF007b), steel beams (W4x13 and W6x20), corrugated steel pipe in thirty-six inch diameter, and imported common fill (60 cubic yards for feature GF012). All work is subject to project manager oversight, with particular emphasis on bat exclusion measures and foundation preparation for bulkhead installations where drainage pipes are specified.
