SIMULATED MULTI-GAS DETECTION TRAINING SYSTEM

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

1. Two Instructor hand-held multi-gas detection devices with capabilities to perform the following:

· Send simultaneous readings to 10 students who may be located anywhere within the laboratory building

· Conduct multiple training sessions at one time

· Operate with multiple instructors simultaneously

· Store and save up to 20-40 location based gas readings

· Change gas detection alarm sounds to simulate those currently used in industry multi-gas detectors

· Change all units gas readings simultaneously or separately

· Ability to train users on types of gases

· Maintain a database

· Produce reports detailing gas readings and messages sent during training session

· Set alarm levels

· Adjust gas levels being monitored

· Manually increase or decrease gas readings

2. Ten Student hand-held multi-gas detection devices with these capabilities:

· Audio

· Visual

· Vibration

· Detachable metering wand

3. Carrying cases for all devices and attachments

4. Recharge accessories for all devices

5. In-depth, on-site training for users

The training system is to be used in an above-ground simulated mine that provides hands-on training for MSHA inspectors and mining industry personnel. The 48,000 square foot facility has a simulated coal mine on the lower level and a simulated metal/nonmetal mine on the second floor level. Training exercises are provided for entry-level MSHA inspectors, Mine Rescue Teams, MERD, Fire Brigade, etc.

The Contractor must have the capability of programming the devices to monitor required gases (oxygen, methane, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide), provide software, database required, and capable of producing reports. The Contractor will also provide additional guidance and instructions on issues arising concerning the system and equipment. The Contractor will be required to submit specifications and recommendations for MSHA’s evaluation of products.
