About this file
This document outlines requirements for the overhaul of a centrifugal pump used by the U.S. Coast Guard. The contractor will receive a Carver model 998-1107-B-06 pump and is responsible for disassembly, inspection, repair or replacement of parts as needed, reassembly, testing, preservation, packaging and shipping. Key requirements include conducting a receiving inspection and condition assessment; mandatory replacement of bearings, seals and gaskets; motor reconditioning, balancing and insulation testing; paint and preservation in accordance with standards; and individual packaging, marking and shipping of each unit. The contractor must notify the contracting officer prior to key tests and inspections. Quality assurance requirements specify calibration programs and records in compliance with NIST standards. The document provides detailed preservation, packaging and marking requirements to prepare each pump for long-term storage. Upon acceptance, the contractor shall return overhauled pumps to the Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

3.2. Overhaul - The Contractor shall provide all labor and materials to perform the overhaul services as described below for the pump/pump unit.
3.2.1. Preliminary disassembly and inspection of the pump/pump unit shall be conducted in accordance with pump/pump unit OEM procedures, specifications, references and standard practices to determine the total estimated cost to repair including material, labor, testing, Preservation, Packing and Marking (PP&M) costs. A Condition Found Report (CFR) shall be submitted to the KO, and COR within 30 days of the completion of the "Receiving Inspection Report" detailing the repair parts recommended for replacement and a total repair cost.
a. It is assumed that the pump/pump unit will arrive in a re-usable container. In the event the container is deemed unusable the contractor shall state so as part of the inspection report and provide photo documentation.
3.2.2. The CFR shall be submitted to the KO and COR for review and approval prior to the start of any repair or order of any material. The Contractor shall also provide the replacement cost of an identical new pump/pump unit for comparison to the overhaul cost. At a minimum, mandatory replacement parts shall include all bearings, bushings, seals and gaskets. All parts that are worn, have an improper fit and or damaged beyond the OEM tolerances, shall be repaired or replaced as determined by the COR .
