A. Design Basis Information: Provide design, materi als, equipment, installation, inspection, and testing of the automa tic sprinkler system in accordance with the requirements of NFPA 13.
1. Perform hydraulic calculations in accordance wit h NFPA 13 utilizing the Area/Density method. Additionally, the calculat ed demand
(including hose stream requirements) shall fall no less than 10 percent below the available water supply curve. Do not restrict design area reductions permitted for using quick re sponse sprinklers throughout by the required use of standard response sprinklers in the areas identified in this section.
2. If the Sprinkler system modifications required b y the new construction necessitate re-calculation of the exis ting system sprinkler system, the Contractor shall perform that work as part of this project.
3. Sprinkler Protection: Sprinkler Hazard Classific ations for new work shall be Extra Hazard, Group 1 (storage racks excee ding 12’ in height), Class IV. Confirm hazard classification wi th the CMOP
Project Manager prior to starting design.
4. Water Supply: See Drawings for the Flow Test dat a the original
Sprinkler System was based upon. Contact CMOP Proj ect Manager for recently performed Flow Test data.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. The Fire Protection drawings indicate the approx imate level of work on this project. Submit as one package, detailed worki ng drawings that are signed by a NICET Level III or Level IV Sprinkler T echnician or stamped by a Registered Professional Engineer licensed in t he field of Fire
Protection Engineering. The installer remains respo nsible for the Fire

2. Drawings: Submit detailed 1:100 (1/8 inch) scale (minimum) working drawings conforming to the Plans and Calculations c hapter of NFPA
13. Drawings shall include graphical scales that al low the user to determine lengths when the drawings are reduced in size. Include a plan showing the piping to the water supply test lo cation.
3. Manufacturer’s Data Sheets: Provide data sheets for all materials and equipment proposed for use on the system. Inclu de listing information and installation instructions in data s heets. Where data sheets describe items in addition to those proposed to be used for the system, clearly identify the proposed items on the sheet.
4. Calculation Sheets:
a. Submit hydraulic calculation sheets in tabular f orm conforming to the requirements and recommendations of the Plans a nd
Calculations chapter of NFPA 13.
5. Final Document Submittals: Provide as-built draw ings, testing and maintenance instructions. In addition, submittals shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
a. A complete set of as-built drawings showing the existing installed system interconnections with the new syst em.
21 13 13 - 3
b. Material and Testing Certificate: Upon completio n of the sprinkler system installation or any partial sectio n of the system, including testing and flushing, provide a c opy of a completed Material and Testing Certificate as indic ated in NFPA
13. Certificates shall be provided to document all parts of the installation.
1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Installer Reliability: The installer shall posse ss a valid State of
Arizona Commercial Fire Sprinkler Contractor's lice nse. The installer shall have been actively and successfully engaged i n the installation of commercial automatic sprinkler systems for the p ast ten years.
B. Materials and Equipment: All equipment and devic es shall be of a make and type listed by UL or approved by FM, or other n ationally recognized testing laboratory for the specific purpose for whi ch it is used. All materials, devices, and equipment shall be approved by the CMOP Project
Manager. All materials and equipment shall be free from defect. All materials and equipment shall be new unless specifi cally indicated otherwise on the contract drawings.
1.5 APPLICABLE PUBLICATIONS
