Solicitation No. 36C25719Q0301 / Amendment No. 0003

Bus Shelter

1. We have two concerns about the proposed location of the shelter: 1) buses would have limited space to safely back into the new structure, and 2) the back of the structure would need to be immediately next to a drainage ditch and culvert. The second item is concerning because water runoff will most likely wash out the fill under the foundation and cause the structure to fail. Given these two concerns, will the VA change the build site to an area further down in the yard that will allow for more space for both concerns? Please see the attached picture for reference.

A: See new drawing dated 4/10/2019

2. If three phase electric is required for this structure, power will most likely need to be sourced from the larger structure in the build area. Can the VA confirm the type of power required and the power source location?

A: Power source is located on the east side of the transportation building (64)

3. What size service is the electrical source?

A: 208/120

4. Will there be a drawing provided of the shelter itself?

A: No

5. The project is based off of a 4 bay pre-design building. Can the VA provide more information on the structural layout and gauge of material?

A: Items not covered in SOW to be determined by the contractor’s designer

6. Is there a candle foot requirement on the lighting for each bay or can the VA issue a spec and layout of what type of lighting they want?

A: 5 Horizontal FC

7. Addendum #2 has the contractor locating utilities at the site and utility locating companies will have little to no information on what maybe under ground. Should the contractors include a line item in the bid for utility locates?

A: This is at the contractors discretion

8. During the site visit it was found that the location of the shelter and shelter pad would encroach the drainage swell near the back fence and leave little to no room to maneuver the buses into the shelter. Did the VA determine an alternate location?

A: Yes, see new drawing

9. There was a discussion on site determining the power and where it was to come from without disturbing the existing concrete drive. Is the contractor to bore under the existing concrete drive or was another location to get the power reviewed?

A: Means and methods are to be determined by the bidding contractor

10. Please identify the area the contractor is to get the power from and if there is an existing panel there?

A: Power source is the transformer located behind the transportation building (64). A new panel shall be placed @ the new bus shelter. Location of panel TBD
