Upgrade Fire Radio; Project Number 539-17-201; Cincinnati VAMC, OH
The purpose of this amendment is to post the pre-bid sign in sheet, and to post answers to questions.
ALL OTHER PROVISIONS AND CLAUSES REMAIN UNCHANGED
Q1. There is a DAS on the drawing (ET-501). Is this an existing DAS in the building or the DAS that they have designed for the new work?
A1. This is the new DAS that is to be included in this bid project.
Q2. On the drawing there is DAS equipment from the sub-basement through the 3rd floor. Did someone do some testing to determine that those areas are the only areas that require coverage?
A2. Testing was done during design to validate that coverage is required up to and including the 3rd floor.
Q3. The DAS in the drawing is a high-powered passive DAS. Can we submit an alternate solution for a full fiber DAS? If so, can we put the headend in the top floor and run fiber down to the coverage areas instead of the ½” coax?
A3. An alternate solution would be considered on the condition that:
1. All costs for labor, material and programming associated with the alternate solution are included
2. The local Authority Having Jurisdiction provides written approval
3. The system is in compliance with all provisions of the Ohio Fire Code and the NFPA.
Q4. On drawing A102 note 5, to what extent does the area need to have an overlay? There is no demolition scheduled for the floor or new flooring to be installed.
A4. Contractor to protect existing slab in area of PME work.
Q5. On drawing A102 Note 10 depicts the construction limits. Does this require a visqueen wall barrier as described in the specifications 01 00 00-7 E. Temporary Construction Partitions?
A5. Provide temporary construction as described in specifications 01 00 00 -7E. Coordinate limits of Construction with COR.
Q6. On drawing A103 General Note C and D describe new interior partitions along with finishes P-1 and P-4. There doesn’t appear to be any new partitions shown on the bid documents. Also, there is no finish schedule indicating what P-1 and P-4 are. Is this note in error?
A6. Revise General Note C and D in sheet A103 to read as follows:
“ C. PATCH/REPAIR SURFACES AS REQUIRED FOR ANY NEW FINISHES, INCLUDING AREAS THAT WILL BE EXPOSED AS A RESULT OF THIS PROJECT. MATCH ADJACENT FINISHES.
D. IN ANY AREAS OF PATCH/REPAIR, CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME PAINT/FINISH WILL BE REQUIRED CORNER TO CORNER ONLY IN PUBLIC SPACES SUCH AS CORRIDORS AND LOBBIES.”
Q7. The actual square footage of the renovation of a mixed-use development project?
A7. There is no change in the building area of Building 01. Approximate area of work for this project is 387,000 gross square feet (GSF) of building 01.
Q8: Does the 3rd Floor OR Suite & Sterile Corridor (Sheet ET-103) have solid or drop ceilings?
A8: All affected areas of the 3rd Floor are drop ceilings EXCEPT for an approx. 20-foot section just inside & to the right of the automatic doors next to the antenna shown in Zone 5-C of Sheet ET-103. (Confirmed during on-site walk-thru by the COR on 10/11/19)
Q9: What is the fire rating on all spaces & penetrations? (Contractor wants to confirm the specific fire rating required for ALL wall and ALL ceiling/floor penetrations in all rooms.)
A9: Per drawing G003, all penetrations to be 2 hr. rated construction.
Q10: Can existing penetrations & sleeves in the signal closets to be used where available at each floor or are all new/separate penetrations & sleeves dedicated to this antenna system required?
A10: Project Bid to include new fire rated 2” penetration and conduit sleeve in each existing signals closet.
Q11: How thick are the floors where cable penetrations are to be cored at each level in the hospital?
A11: Floor slabs are considered to be concrete with steel reinforcement per the original building plans and is as follows:
· Basement Floor = 5-inch slab with 1/2-inch rebar
· 1st through 9th Floors = 4-1/2-inch slab with 1/2-inch rebar
· Penthouse Floor = 5-inch slab with 1/2-inch rebar
Q12: Is there an ICRA plan in place for this, and if so, what is it?
A12: ICRA is attached to this amendment.
Q13: Is it known whether or not hazardous materials (asbestos) are present and how will this be addressed if found during construction?
A13: Per General Demolition note J. There are no known ACM (asbestos Containing Materials) in this project. If any suspicious or positive ACM are encountered notify the COR immediately.
Q14: Who will be inspecting this system after installation? (Contractor wanted clarification on the specification(s) this system is to adhere to and who will be doing the final inspection & signoff for this system since it is serving a public fire department, but is being installed on federal property.)
A14: Contractor will perform the NFPA and OFC required system demonstration and inspections in conjunction with the local Fire Department and the VA Police and Emergency Services Departments.
