Set 1 - Questions and Answers

RFI for Security Package, Door Alarm System and Cameras - 36C24820Q0146

1. The part number SEDA-AAR1 on the price schedule does not seem to be a valid part number from the manufacturer. Can you please provide the correct part number, part name, and the intent on its use?

Answer: SEDA-AAR1 is for the Alarm Activation Recording Module.

2. The part number DAISY-FS1-6-2W is from a different manufacturer than the Best SEDA system. Can you please provide the correct part number for the top door, flat sensor bar? (note: The Best Access part number for door sensor assembly on 36”-42” wide doors should be “SEDA-DSA-P1” (left or right))

Answer: The correct part number to quote is “SEDA-DSA-P1”, quote both left and right.

3. Regarding price schedule item 0001AG, it appears to be a part number for a pin style electric transfer hinge. There was a discussion during the walkthrough of adding piano style hinges on the doors associated with this project. However, these would not be needed since the doors are pin hinge style and not traditional frame hinge style. Can you please confirm that full length piano style hinges will NOT be needed on this project?

Answer: Please check with the manufacturer for the best installation specifications.

4. Regarding price schedule line number 0001AD. Is the intent for each nursing station to only monitor the doors in the closest/associated hallway and NOT all the doors in the entire system?

Answer: The nursing stations will monitor the associated hallway, the capacity of the two monitoring modules may allow additional expansion to monitor both hallways at each nurse’s station. Additional consideration will be made at the installation.

5. Is the SEDA system to be monitored also in the ARC Monitoring Room control room with the video monitoring? If so, the counts of line 0001AD of the price schedule need to be corrected to account for a monitoring station there as well.

Answer: No. The nursing stations will monitor the associated hallway.

6. Regarding line 0002AA on the price schedule, according to the manufacturer, the Axis network video recorder (S1132) has no video outputs as it is a server. In order to view the video cameras and drive the two requested monitors, the Axis S9002 Mk II video viewing workstation, or equivalent, is recommended. Can you confirm if this workstation should be added to the parts list?

Answer: Contractors should verify all equipment required to render a complete operational system; any additional equipment not listed in the schedule should be quoted for evaluation.

7. Regarding line 0002AH on the price schedule, the S1132 NVR comes with (4) x 4TB hard drives installed for a total of 16TB of raw storage. The price schedule includes a request for (8) x 8TB loose Western Digital hard drives. What is the purpose of those extra hard drives? Where should these be installed?

Answer: The 8TB hard drives are updating the 4TB hard drives and should be installed as replacements to enhance the system.

8. Can the VA please provide an updated drawing and/or plans with the new camera types and locations, doors with new SEDA devices, and the control room layout?

Answer: Yes – Please see the attachment Installation Plan.

9. Will either of the nurse’s stations be required to view video, or will video ONLY be viewed in the ARC monitoring room?

Answer: No. Monitoring room only.

10. Will all new wires and cables need to be installed in conduit that is home run from each location to the headend, or will above ceiling wire trays and/or J Hooks be acceptable?

Answer: Installation will be conducted per Contractor’s expertise and recommendations for the best professional outcome that meet the manufacturer’s and VA guidelines.

11. Will the new equipment in the ARC monitoring room need to be powered from electrical circuits tied into the hospital generators?

Answer: Final decision will be made during installation; a power source for uninterrupted monitoring is required.

12. If the equipment in the ARC monitoring room does NOT need to be powered from electrical circuits tied into the hospital generators, will battery backup (UPS) devices be required?

Answer: Final decision will be made during installation; a power source for perpetual monitoring is required.
