The patient elopement protection system will include stairwells, elevators, entry/exit doors, nursing stations, and any other designated areas requested by the Fayetteville VA. The rationale for this project is to address the hospital’s current need to alert clinical staff when an at-risk patient exits the ward/building or enters a restricted area. An extensive Survey Review will be conducted of the entire site prior to final design proceeding. VA Biomedical Engineering staff will supply an up to date as possible list of all buildings (floorplans) and devices of the existing system. The Survey Review will evaluate the existing system and any need to add to it with the new system. The Survey Review will inspect and evaluate the existing infrastructure of the existing system relating to communication pathways, electrical requirements, and all existing code requirements for all site buildings.
