Statement of work
(2) Full-time Elevator Mechanics, Perry Point VAMC
The VA Maryland Health Care System, Perry Point VA Medical Center is multi-building (30 buildings) campus located in Perry Point Maryland.
Vendor will provide (2) qualified elevator mechanics 80-hours per week (40-hrs/each), 52-weeks per year between Monday through Friday excluding Federal Holidays. 1st-shift 7:00am to 3:30pm and 2nd-shift 8:30am to 5:00pm. This includes 30-minute lunch.
Qualification for elevator mechanics:
a. Evidence/proof of completion of national elevator training programs, such as NEIEP or CET programs through NAEC. (NACE- The National Association of Elevator Contractors, CET-Certified Elevator Technician, NEIEP-National Elevator Industry Educational Program)
b. provide 7-years of current documented continuous service as an elevator mechanic,
c. Licensed Elevator Mechanic in the state of Maryland
Elevator Mechanics are required to obtain a VA “contractor badge”. Elevator Mechanics will need to submit badging application and fingerprinting to VA security office for a background check. Badging is required to work on the VA campus and to for mechanics to access our work orders.
The Perry Point campus includes tractions-elevators, hydraulic-elevators, dumb waiters, dock levelers, scissor lifts, wheelchair lifts. The inventory is attached to this SOW. The (2) elevator mechanic will be expected familiarize themselves with the campus buildings, elevator equipment and machine room’s locations. This requirement is necessary to reduce the dependence of VA staff during the performance of this work.
This is basically a labor hour contract. VA will purchase all necessary parts. The vendor will provide a written parts orders to the Electric shop supervisor when parts are needed. The Vendor will provide the mechanics with tools, meters, rags, ladders, and materials needed for lubricating for their daily work.
The VA Electric Shop Supervisor will assign daily/weekly/monthly/annual work assignment. The electrical shop supervisor will establish workload priorities.
Elevator mechanic will perform (daily, monthly, and annual) preventive maintenance (PM) as required by elevator manufactures and Maryland Elevator Codes. The elevator mechanics will perform repairs, assist elevator inspector during annual inspections, maintain an elevator logbook for each elevator, perform corrective actions from annual elevator inspections. Elevator mechanic will provide technical assistance, technical information, and code consultation to support our maintenance program. The mechanics will need to document their daily work.
Vendor must supply a company owned vehicle. The vehicle will be clearly marked as a vehicle owned by contractor. Vehicle can be allowed to remain on station overnight/weekends.
The (2) elevator mechanics must remain on site during the agreed daily 8-hours of operation.
Vendor must supply employees with approved uniforms that are considered safe and appropriate for this type of work. Supplied uniforms will be marked with the company name to be clearly identified as employee of vendor.
Vendor will include (6-each) after hours emergency calls for repairs service. Each call is good for 6-hours, including travel time for employee. The after hours, include weekends and holidays. This shall be priced as a separate line item.
Vendor will provide and handle the weights for the Category 5 & 3 inspections for the (9) traction-elevators and (24) hydraulic elevators. Inventory and scheduled attached.
The VA will provide the 3rd party annual inspector.
If there is a correction required by 3rd party inspector for one or multiple elevators the vendor will be required to bring back out the weights (1x) additional time for re-testing.
