Questions and Responses
EMPI Funded-Emergency Generator 2B for Proposal 36C24419B0046 Date of Responses – 07/24/19 Question #1 Has testing for ACM been completed throughout the project site?
Response: Specific testing for ACM had not been done for this project.
Question #2 What is the ICRA level?
Response: See specification 01 35 26, para. 1.12.B.
Question #3 What is the existing roofing materials and is there a warranty?
Response: The existing roofing system is fully-adhered EPDM on Polyiso insulation. The warranty is expired.
Question #4 Detail 4/S-501 (Floor Penetration) cannot be located. Please provide clarification on where this necessary.
Response: Detail 4/S-501 is intended to support the floor slab where a MEP penetration occurs. The detail notes indicate that locations of penetrations are to be found on Mechanical and Electrical drawings. Refer to plan 2/MP101 and sheet EP102.
Question #5 Confirm that there is in fact a new equipment pad under Automatic voltage Regulators (2 units) per sheet EP103. I this one (1) pad or two (2)? There appears to be no notes indication this but section 2 sheet EF103 appears to show equipment pad darker (indicating new)?
Response: See drawing SF102.
Question #6 Sheet EP104: What is existing surface material to be cut through from existing Switchgear Building 11 to both new and proposed 750KVA generators (not transformers)? Is existing concrete or asphalt? What is existing thickness of materials and provide patching / infill instruction – details?
Response: Assuming the reference above is for generators – not transformers – the material out of Bldg. 11 is Gravel. See detail 7/S-502. The 750kVA transformer is not being moved as part of this project.
Question #7 Specifications call for new generator per 26 32 13 / 1.1 / A to be 600KVA / 675KVA yet plans all call for Generac unit to be 750KVA. Please provide clarification.
Response: The generator shall be rated 600KW / 750KVA.
Question #8 Specification 26 32 12 / 1.4 / D Calls for manufacturer to provide fuel for new generator. Is electrical contractor responsible to top off tank once all load testing, etc. is complete? For Alternate 1: is manufacturer to include fuel within alternate price?
Response: Yes, contractor to top off tank after all testing is completed. Yes, for Alternate 1, include fuel within alternate price.
Question #9 Finish Schedule is missing. Based on extent of wall being affected and having electrical items being relocated, provide clarification on which walls are to be painted. Is exposed structure in any location to be painted?
Response: Walls that are affected by demolition or construction activities are to be painted to match existing. Refer to drawings for locations. Exposed structure is to be finished as indicated on general notes – galvanized for exterior, shop primer for interior.
Question #10 Per sheet SF 101 a new concrete slab to be installed at new double door location. Is this to be a frost slab?
Response: No, install a simple pad as indicated.
Question #11 Specification section 01 45 35.10 Attachment A – Schedule is missing from specification.
Response: Schedule is included in the copy of the Specifications that the AE provided to the VA for bidding.
Question #12 Specification for the following Divisions of work are not found; however, there is work within these specific divisions / trades within the drawings:
· Demolition
· Carpentry
· Roofing
· Drywall / Framing
· Plumbing
· Landscaping
· Structural Steel
· Masonry Response:
· Demolition – See new Demolition Specification section.
· Carpentry - Work for this trade is negligible. Scope of work is specified on the drawings. Spec sections are not required.
· Roofing – See new EPDM Roofing Specification section.
· Drywall / Framing - Work for this trade is negligible. Scope of work is specified on the drawings. Spec sections are not required.
· Plumbing – Scope of work is specified on the drawings. Spec sections are not required.
· Landscaping – Work for this trade is negligible. Spec sections are not required. Remove existing plantings that interfere with finished condition. Leave mulch areas in a neat condition to match existing adjacent.
· Structural Steel – See new Structural Steel Framing Specification section.
· Masonry – See new Masonry Specification section.
Question #13 What Transfer switches are existing and what should be provided in this phase? If all the ATS are new, should they all have bypass isolation or is this just required on ATS-ES-SWGR?
Response: Drawing EP101 Plan #1 shows six (6) new ATS’s of varying sizes to be installed in room EE200, Drawing E-602 SLD verifies six (6) new ATS’s. The six (6) new ATS’s will eventually replace the existing ATS’s of the same name. All six (6) new ATS’s require bypass isolation. Also See Brand Name or Equal Equipment list (Shown below) on drawing E-701.

Question #14 What is the composition/roof type on Building #1?
Response: See response to Question #3 above.
