STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Background:
The requirement is to provide the following:
· A. Service agreements for the maintenance and repair of a Leica CM3050 S Cryostat.
· The instrument is a very sophisticated device that permits researchers to cut thin slices of frozen tissue samples inside a refrigerated cabinet that can be maintained at -20 C. These slices are then mounted on glass slides and examined under a microscope. The instrument uses proprietary technologies to move the cutting blade and cool the cabinet. The continued operation of the instrument within manufacturer’s specifications for refrigeration and accuracy of blade motion is required for successful completion of ongoing VA research funded by Merit Review and other mechanisms. In addition, the refrigeration system requires regular service to ensure its function. We therefore are requesting a service agreement that provides for periodic maintenance on at least an annual basis and which provides onsite repair should a malfunction occur.
· At the present time only field service technicians from Life Technologies are certified to inspect and service these instruments.
· Quotations or sole source documentation.
