RFI’S Questions and Answers 36C24123B0005 HVAC UNIT REPLACEMENT
1) Is there a bid set of drawings available for this project? No
2) How much of the pipes to the pumps will be replaced? From the valve down and both pumps
3) Are line sets to the existing mini split units being replaced when new units are installed? Replace line sets unless in a difficult area then a flushing with R-11 and nitrogen will suffice
4) Which rooftops are getting mats? Exact location will be shown by maintenance dept and safety dept
5) Are current AC units being fed off of emergency power? Units in IT rooms (E58,W59) are on emergency power Mini Splits are not.
6) Are new and replacement units being fed off of emergency power? No
7) Which electrical panels are feeding the mini split units? Electrical panels in NE 103 in basement
8) Who is the controls contractor for this VAMC?

9) Are contractors required to use the VA-prescribed controls contractor? Yes
10) Will rooms be occupied during construction? Some rooms will likely be occupied, But we can't know which for sure.
11) What level ICRA barriers will be required during construction? Class 2
12) Is the contractor required to remove existing window AC units?Yes
13) Is the contractor required to fill the window where the AC units currently sit?Yes
14) During the project, will there be a need to be escorted into any areas? If so explain. Yes in the IT rooms W56 & E38.
15) Can you please provide the contact information for whoever holds the controls contract for the Building Automation System? Attached is Johnson controls contact info.
16) Can you please provide the warranty information for the TREMCO roofs affected during this project, specifically as referred to in sections 2.4, 2.5, and 2.6 in the “instructions to bidders? Below is contact info for tremco rep 6th floor north roof is covered until 2034.
