Statement of Work Optos Ultra-Widefield Retinal Imaging with Integrated OCT, Optometry, JP
A. INTRODUCTION:
The VA Boston Healthcare System Surgical Department, Optometry, is in need of the Optos Ultra-Widefield Retinal Imaging with Integrated OCT, at the Jamaica Plain campus.
This FDA-Approved Ultrawide field retinal imaging device is used to evaluate, document, and monitor PERIPHERAL RETINA and POSTERIOR SEGMENT lesions that often are beyond the reach of standard fundus camera to capture. This includes retina tear and detachment, peripheral mass or vascular or exudative lesions frequently encountered during ophthalmic exam but were unable to capture for longitudinal comparison.
This equipment will help eye care professionals enhance their clinical examination and enhance practice economics improving imaging modalities and picture viewing options, this one has features that were not available a few years ago.
This device allows the clinician to not only photo-document lesions that a normal camera cannot, but also perform OCT on those lesions. The combination of technologies only exists with the Optos brand. This technology will be vital in diagnosis melanoma and choroidal neovascularization, to name two.
