About this file

This is an addendum to a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by Westport Public Schools in Connecticut for outplaced student transportation services. The addendum addresses bidder questions regarding scope, operations, staffing, and contract terms. The RFP covers transportation services for approximately 30 currently enrolled students across approximately 17 active destinations, plus contingency locations with zero current enrollment. All listed destinations must be priced by bidders, including those with no students currently attending, as these represent potential transportation needs during the 2026-2027 contract period. The contract period runs through the 2026-2027 school year, including the Extended School Year program during summer 2027, with no renewal or extension options as the district conducts annual competitive bidding. Proposals are due July 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. EDT. The awarded contractor is responsible for designing routes, notifying families of pickup and drop-off times, and managing all operating costs including fuel. Route volumes and the specific number of required vehicles will depend upon each bidder's proposed routing.

Staffing requirements include qualified drivers and bus aides meeting Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles standards; bus aides are not required to possess medical or nursing credentials but medical credentials are helpful. For the St. Vincent's Special Needs route requiring wheelchair assistance, the district will provide the licensed nurse while the contractor supplies only the vehicle and qualified driver. Bus aides on other routes perform only boarding, deboarding, and mobility assistance as described in the RFP. The district reserves the right to award the contract in whole or in part, allowing bidders to propose on subsets of routes if desired. Vehicles must comply with applicable Connecticut laws with no maximum fleet age specified. Current contract pricing for the 2025-2026 school year is publicly available on the Westport Public Schools website, and interested contractors may contact the district at 203-341-1754 or bbarry@westportps.org for additional information.
