STREAMLINED SOLICITATION FOR COMMERCIAL ITEMS
COMPETITIVE
COMBINED SYNOPSIS / SOLICITATION
BRAND NAME OR EQUAL
Title: Microwave Synthesizers
(i) This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.
(ii) The solicitation number is 75N95022Q00108 and the solicitation is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ).
This acquisition is for a commercial item or service and is conducted under the authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13—Simplified Acquisition Procedures;
and FAR Part 12—Acquisition of Commercial Items, and is not expected to exceed the simplified acquisition threshold.
(iii) The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) Number 2022-04, with effective date January
30, 2022.
(iv) The associated NAICS code 334516 and the small business size standard is 1,000 employees. This acquisition is not restricted and available for full and open competition.
(v) This requirement is for the following items: microwave synthesizer to perform chemical synthesis with integrated automated sample processing.
The Antiviral Program for Pandemics (APP) aims to develop safe and effective antivirals to combat SARS-CoV-2. APP will accelerate the development of a portfolio of promising antivirals that can quickly pivot to combat future pandemics. Having safe and effective oral antiviral candidates ready for deployment in later-stage clinical trials against a newly emergent virus would save lives, reduce serious illness and prevent overwhelming surges in hospitalizations during a viral outbreak or pandemic. Most chemical reactions require heating, and typically can take several hours to complete. This is a major bottleneck to chemical synthesis. However, a microwave chemical synthesis system allows reactions to be completed in a fraction of the time and will help the APP group develop potential candidates against future pandemic threats by aiding in the synthesis of potential lead compounds to be tested in biological assays, as well as in vivo animal efficacy models.
