1. How often are the ventilators being deployed and used?
During the Katrina Floods; we’re a Response organization so there is a possibility that they can be deployed-for-use at any time.
2. In the solicitation there are several products that are listed that are no longer produced by the Manufacturer. Is it acceptable to have an alternate source for providing the products?
As long as products/parts meet the same manufacturers requirements as the original part, as well as warranty.
3. For the LP 10 transport case the manufacturer only makes them available to the government not for general sale. We can have custom made cases by Pelican based on the size descriptions for the LP 10 ventilator and the supplies is that acceptable and if so what quantity will we need?
As long as they meet the same requirements as the current LP 10 cases. Quantity unknown at this time---not aware of any cases needed.
4. Do you have a quantity for the HME's, Filters, PEEP Valves and Oxygen elbow connectors?
LP10:
HME PEDs – 4,024
HME – 3,300
Peep Valve – 6,090 Oxygen Elbow – 2,000
5. The manufacturer has not had a price increase in over 5 years on parts, however on the pricing sheet I notice there is no amendment for manufacturer price increases. My worry is if we are awarded the contract the manufacturer will raise the price, is there a way to amend pricing after the contract is awarded?
Yes if it falls within FAR Part 52.216-2.
6. In Section C.4, G asks for Liability Insurance Coverage in the amount of $5,000,000. Novamed Corporation currently has certifiable Umbrella coverage in the amount of $2,000,000 as is common in the industry. Would our response be deemed non-responsive if we sent that certificate and indicated in our response that if the CDC awarded NovaMed Corporation a contract we would increase our coverage to $5,000,000 within 30 days of award?
Yes.
7. Can you provide the dimensions of the shipping air cargo containers?
SATCO Short ‘B’: 43”w x 57”L x 59”H
8. Each device requires a PM once a year –part of the PM requirement is a battery replacement-will the contractor be responsible for the battery cost?
Yes, contractor should be responsible for cost of batteries, as part of the PM. It should be noted that the PM may not require a battery replacement yearly. Determined by the manufacturer. Similar Ventilator manufacturer stated that battery replacement should be done every 5 years with inspection of battery every year and replacement before 5 years determined by contractor determination of battery effectiveness.
9. Will the Ventilator Kit Ancillary items need to be ordered every year or on an as needed basis? Will the price need to include shipping?
As needed and the cost should include shipping
10. Will repairs be handled under a separate task order?
There will be multiple line items. Additional, separate task orders will be issued for: example – Oxygen Elbow stock is out and we must purchase additional Oxygen Elbows in order to repair what is required. The actual repair cost must be included in the PM if there are any.
