RFQ No. 19UK5622Q0026
| Main boilers replacement at Winfield House | U.S Embassy London, United Kingdom |
| Questions and Answers (Q&A) | June 6th 2022 |
Questions and Answers (Q&A) Rev02 – June 16th 2022 RPSO has received the following questions (Q) and is hereby providing the following answers (A).
1. Q: The supply and installation of a heat exchanger and consequent re-arrangement of pipes in order to better control the quality of the water running through the boilers has unanimously recommended by all three contractors. Shall this be included in the cost proposal?
A: No, a heat exchanger is not required. The pipe arrangement shall be kept as it is except for the modifications to accommodate the new boilers.
2. Q: Based on the inclusion of a heat exchanger is the flushing and chemical cleaning as per SOW section 4.4.4 still required?
A: See answer to Q1. 4.4.4 is still required.
3. Q: Does the boiler room have a fresh air intake and an air extract?
A: Yes, it does as shown on site, however the contractor shall inform the COR if there are any concerns about the gas safe regulations.
4. Q: Can we have details (make and model no) of all the existing pumps for the boilers VT and Ct circuits?
A: Yes, please see below. We have also included details of the primary circulating pumps (all to be replaced with new to suit the new boilers and existing system):
VT Pumps x 2 Grundfos P/N 96403923
PC 9911
Model A Type UPSD 40 – 120f 400-415V 50Hz
CT Pumps x 2 Grundfos P/N 96403986
PC 9827
Model A Type UPSD 50 – 180/2f 400-415V 50Hz
Circulating Pumps x 2 Grundfos
P/N 96403992
PC 9808
Model A Type UPSD 65-60 / 4F 400-415V 50Hz
The contractor shall note that the existing pumps are 3 phase and that the new ones shall be 3 phase. As per any new piece of equipment required, the contractor shall ensure an electrical supply is install to achieve a full operational system.
5. Q: Can we see evidence of calculations that the forced fresh air into the boiler room is sufficient for all the appliances taking into consideration the duty of the mechanical extract system installed to prove that it is sufficient for the nominal 600kw capacity of equipment?
A: There is no calculations unfortunately. Therefore, a calculation of the existing ventilation capacity for all the gas fueled appliances in the room will be undertaken by the Embassy in due course. Once the report is received this will be shared with all the tenderers.
6. Q: Can we see evidence of a gas flow rate with all appliances running together, boilers water heaters gas fires and kitchen equipment to prove the existing pipework size is ok?
A: There is no evidence of gas flow rates. Therefore, a test of the existing gas supply will be undertaken by the embassy in due course. This will also be shared with all the tenderers.
7. Q: Can you confirm that the existing isolation valves will hold up for the works or will they need to be replaced with new?
A: The vendors are required to replace all the equipment and accessories on the boilers side of the main isolation valves. Further photos of the existing pipe arrangement are included. Please see also sketch below.
8. Q: Are there any further equipment requirements?
A: The contractor shall supply, deliver and install a magnetic filtration system to protect the boilers and an automatic air vent at the highest point of the pipes.
9. Q: Are there any asbestos records available?
A: Unfortunately there are no records available. The contractor shall conduct a full R&D survey to the boilers and boilers’s, associated equipment, including sections and surrounding areas that will be disturbed during the project, areas that form the work areas and access routes. This shall be included in the price proposal.
10. Q: Can the bids due date be extended?
A: See Amendment No. 3 – Extended to July 1, 2022 image1.png
