About this file
Summary
This document is Contract No. MA180000000005 (formerly 171180000000005) between the State of Michigan, administered by the Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) Central Procurement Services, and Leica Geosystems Inc., a Michigan corporation headquartered in Fenton, Michigan. The contract is a multi-agency indefinite delivery vehicle extended to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Michigan State Police (MSP) as well as MiDEAL members, which include local units of government, school districts, universities, community colleges, and nonprofit hospitals. The original contract was effective October 3, 2017, with an initial expiration date of September 30, 2020, and included two optional one-year renewal periods. The contract has been extended through Change Notices, with the most recent extension (Change Notice 12, effective November 18, 2025) bringing the current aggregate contract value to $13,866,591.60.
Under this contract, Leica Geosystems supplies survey-grade equipment including high-accuracy GPS receivers, total stations, digital levels, and related surveying equipment, with pricing based on percentage discounts from manufacturer's catalog pricing, currently at 20 percent discount for State of Michigan purchases. The contract establishes firm pricing for 365-day periods with the ability to request adjustments based on documented changes in actual contractor costs. Delivery is required within 21 business days of order receipt, with installation expected within 30 calendar days. The contractor provides one-year warranties on most equipment (two years for DISTO products, 90 days for batteries), with optional extended warranties available up to five years. Technical support, repairs, and maintenance services are available 24/7/365 through designated representatives, with on-site service required within 72 hours of scheduling for unresolved issues. All orders placed before September 30 of the fiscal year must be received by that date, and items not received are subject to return at the contractor's cost. Payment terms are NET 45 via Electronic Funds Transfer, and the State retains the right to place orders with other vendors as this is a non-exclusive contract.

The State will notify Contractor in writing if indemnification is sought; however, failure to do so will not relieve Contractor, except to the extent that Contractor is materially prejudiced. Contractor must, to the satisfaction of the State, demonstrate its financial ability to carry out these obligations.
The State is entitled to: (i) regular updates on proceeding status; (ii) participate in the defense of the proceeding; (iii) employ its own counsel; and to (iv) retain control of the defense if the State deems necessary.
