Questions - Bad Nation Booster & Water Main, Project AB-13-S49

On-site (Site Visit) questions:

1. Is 3-phase power available at the Bad Nation booster site location?

Yes, 3-phase power is available per CSI specification 05220 – Packaged Booster Station, Section 2.7, 21. a.

2. There are overhead power lines at the Bad Nation booster site location. Can they be moved to facilitate construction?

The power lines may have to be moved to facilitate removing the existing or installing the new water booster stations. If the contractor decides that the overhead power lines will need to be relocated, the contractor is responsible for relocation coordination and any fees associated with this activity. Relocation down time shall be minimized as water supply pressure to the Bad Nation homes will need to be maintained.

3. There is a concrete pad below the existing Bad Nation booster station. Does this have to be removed as part of the abandonment?

No, the concrete pad below the existing booster station does not have to be removed. The existing booster station vault can be cut from the pad just above the concrete. The existing booster station vault shall be removed from the site and the void filled with an approved material.

4. Is it anticipated that the NTP will still be this construction season? (Yes) Is it possible there will be a stop work order issued for winter conditions?

(Possible – as weather and/or other conditions may adversely factor in. However, the Government will make the determination when such need arises)

5. Is it possible to bid 6” hdpe carrier pipe for the bored section (Sta. 93+00B-103+35B)? Also, can hdpe casing pipe be used instead of yelomine?

No, hdpe shall not be used for the carrier pipe, but it may be used for the casing pipe.

6. Is water available for flushing/disinfecting of the water main? Is there a charge?

Water will be available, and the charge will be $21 for the first 5,000 gallons, and $4 for every 1,000 gallons over 5,000. The cost of this water is to be paid by the Contractor directly to the Tribal Utility.

Phone-in to facility (follow-up email) question:

1. using fusible pvc pipe as an “or equal” to the yelomine?
