The National Park Service cares for special places saved by the American people so that all may experience our heritage.
Statement of Work
Objective
Drain and clean two (2) 6,500+ gallon propane tanks and inspect, repair/replace above ground components of liquid propane gas (LPG) tank farm at Rancheria Road El Portal, Ca. 95318
Background
The buildings and grounds branch of Yosemite National Park has an immediate need for the complete replacement of LPG tank farm components in El Portal, Ca. The tank farm regulators have failed, making it necessary to use an electric vaporizer to supply LPG to residences. The tank farm is not designed to run in this manner. In recent weeks the vaporizer has been failing regularly. When the vaporizer fails, 30+ homes lose LPG supply and the ability to use LPG burning appliances. Additionally maintenance personnel are called out to relight pilot lights at each location. The vaporizer is close to failing completely, when this happens the entire supply will be lost until component replacement can take place, leaving residences without LPG and use of appliances.
The location of the work to be done is at about 2,000 feet above sea level. Weather conditions
October- April may range from high temperatures, to rain or snow.
Scope
This tank farm supplies propane to roughly 30 Government-owned homes. Prior to work beginning, a temporary tank large enough to meet the usage demands of typical “whole house” residential use for 30 homes shall be delivered, tied into the existing supply line at the tank farm, filled and monitored to ensure customers are not without propane while work is underway.
Based on “whole house” propane use, the average daily usage for all 30 homes is 80 gallons.
The contractor shall be responsible for removing the existing propane prior to cleaning the tanks, storing the propane, and replacing the propane after the first pressure test. It is acceptable for the contractor to fill the temporary tank with the propane removed from the existing tanks.
The park’s propane supply contractor will make deliveries to the temporary tank if the existing supply of propane runs out while the temporary tank is in use; these deliveries will be coordinated by the COR.
The contractor shall provide with their offer a schedule showing the major milestones of the services required by this statement of work.
Work shall begin within two weeks of contract award.
