SOLICITATION NO. 140P8419Q0054

REPLACE CHATEAU AREA SEPTIC TANK,

OREGON CAVES NATIONAL MONUMENT & PRESERVE,

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, OREGON

FINAL QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS RECEIVED TO DATE:

9. What are the requirements for pumping and cleaning the tank. The “demolition and

Abandonment” section is a bit vague on how the tank is to be cleaned, however in the drawings it states that “the contractor shall fully pump and wash down the interior of the tank to demolition”. The problem is, I have called couple different septic pump companies and they will not send somebody into the tank to wash them down. Apparently it is extremely dangerous in enclosed septic tanks due to the methane gas. They will pump the tanks dry and rake and vacuum up as much as possible. This practice conformed to the local and county deq standards.

Pumping down the tanks and raking and vacuuming up as much as possible is fine.

10. There will be quite a bit of dirt that will be excavated out of the location. However, where is the dirt to be placed? In the drawings, it looks like the whole area gets back filled with the primary and then the secondary material caps the whole area. Can the native“dirt” be place in the backfill as well somewhere?

The native dirt can be placed with the demoed tank remains located adjacent to where the new tank is going.

11. How is the bid bond to be submitted?

As we instruct you to submit your quote electronically, a scanned copy or PDF of the bid bond is sufficient to include with your emailed quote.

Post‐award, any bond documents would need to be mailed in hard copy by the successful contractor.
