SOLICITATION NO. 140P8419Q0050
RESIDENTIAL HAZARD TREE REMOVAL/PRUNING,
POINT REYES NATIONAL SEASHORE,
MARIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
SITE VISIT – MAY 20, 2019
SITE VISIT SUMMARY SUMMARY:
A site visit was conducted on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 9:00am. Participants met at the Point Reyes National Seashore Headquarters/Administrative Building parking lot, 1 Bear Valley Road, Point Reyes Station, CA 94956 at 9:00am. After a brief overview of the project, the group proceeded to Residence 71, then Residence 178, and finally Residence 535.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS RECEIVED TO DATE:
Q1: In accordance with FAR 36.204, could you please indicate what the magnitude of construction range is for the Hazard Tree Removal, NPS-PORE project? If this requirement is a services or supply contract (not construction), please indicate so and disregard this request for magnitude.
A1: This project is considered a service, not construction. The Service wage rates are attached to the solicitation.
Q2: Will we be required to submit a safety plan prior to commencing work?
A2: Yes, a safety plan will be required for submittal and NPS approval prior to the contractor commencing work. The plan shall be site-specific and cover topics such as appropriate PPE (hardhat, eye protection, ear protection, Chainsaw chaps while operating chainsaws, Climbing equipment, etc.), having appropriate signage in place, and any other reasonable safety related topics commensurate with the size and nature of this particular work.
Q3: On residence 178 @Olema there are very low services drop line, could these lines be disconnected and removed for the duration of the tree work? Grapple/Crane has no access to the back because of it and this would be a time-saving issue.
A3: To mitigate this, NPS can install a temporary post that will raise the wires to about 16 feet off the ground, which should give ample clearance to move equipment around the site.
