Questions & Answers

1. Does the site have an unobstructed 20' x 80' area with the well being in the middle of the area?

The project site is one square acre that is centered on the existing 8K1 well (approximate coordinates: 35deg 02’ 46.89” North; 115deg 23’ 22.36” West. The new 8K2 well must be a minimum of 50 feet from the existing 8K1 well. (Included as part of this response is an annotated satellite image of the project site.)

2. Are any of the locations on a slope?

The site has a slope of less than 4 percent with the higher elevation at the north end and the lower elevation at the south end of the project site.

3. Do you have photos of the site you can send?

Two project site photographs have been provided. The first was taken looking to the northeast and the other was taken looking to the west.

4. How much has the US Dept of Interior National Park Service budgeted for this project?

IAW FAR 36.204, the magnitude of construction is between $250,000 and $500,000

5. Who is responsible for disposing of drilling fluids, drill cuttings, and development water?

Specification section 33 11 11 Test Wells specifies these requirements.

6. Does this site have an existing well and if so do you have access to any boring logs/well logs that can be provided? Any of the nearby area or the subject locations to be drilled would be helpful in working up this estimate.

The 8K1 well drilling report was provided as an attachment in the solicitation. No other logs or information is available.

7. If known what is the current depth to water?

The 8K1 well was drilled to a depth of 605 feet below ground surface. The static water level is at approximately 510 feet below ground surface.

8. Is water available onsite for the needs of this effort?

Water is available at Kelso, California through National Park Service.

9. Are restrooms available onsite or should we provide a Portable restroom?

Specification section 01 42 00 Temporary Facilities & Controls specifies these requirements.

10. Can equipment and materials be placed onsite for the duration of this project?

The contractor will have use of the one acre project site for the duration of the project.

11. What drilling methods are permissible?

12. Is there a Turbine Pump?

Specification section 22 11 23.26 Pumps specifies these requirements.

13. Can the bid be emailed?

Proposals shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to jim_read@nps.gov

14. Does the Contractor obtain and pay for the permits?

15. What are the liquidated damages?

There are no liquidated damages clauses for this contract.

16. What is the start date?

Start date is negotiable.

17. What is the time for completion?

120 days after notice to proceed is issued.
