Questions/ Answers

1) In SOW, under sections 2.5 and 3.1.5, permits are mentioned. For another job I have involving an SFWMD levee, the permitting via SFWMD to USACE has been excessively long. USACE civil reached out for USACE's archeologist as well FWS consultancy. What permits will NPS provide and what other permits will the contractor be required to obtain?

a. Only a NPDES Generic Permit for Stormwater Discharge from Large and Small Construction Activities permit is required and is the Contractors responsibility.

2) I write to make an inquiry on HDPE pipe connectors. I have copied the following sample pipe connections from the drawing. Can you please clarify the connectors between HDPE pipes are HDPE mold elbows or flanged elbows?

a. We expect HDPE Butt or Electrofusion Welded joints, and the person joining the pipe sections should be certified to do so per manufacturers procedure. Fittings for HDPE use per manufacturer, will be required. Specifications have additional details.

3) Could it be possible to use a smaller trench ie 8 in for the straight runs of pipe and open small trenches for valves or connections?

a. No.

4) Are water fountains supposed to be replaced or can existing ones be used?

a. Water fountains are to be repaired, there is one that is missing and must be replaced per drawing detail.

5) Diameter of the existing water line(s)

a. 4-inch
