19. Question: In speaking with Dan Struebing, Northeast District Management for Cedar Shake &
Shingle Bureau (401-320-0488) their authorized supplier of the Red Cedar Shake, required in this solicitation, is Capital Forest Products. In speaking with their V.P. of Sales, Curt McLeod (781-740-3182 this product is currently not available due to demand and systemic supply shortages throughout the industry. Furthermore the product cost and delivery date will remain unknown until supply chain is restored. Given this critical impediment, will the solicitation allow for a substitution of another product that is currently commercially available or delay the project start date to coincide with product availability. If the later, will the offeror be able to submit for a price modification to account for any additional cost increase once product is commercially available.
Answer: This week, the contractor on another park roof project was able to secure the exact same material for a confirmed set price and a 6-8 week lead time from a local Cape Cod building material company. That project start was delayed to allow for the material delivery. The park will allow for the same delay on this project.
