CONTRACTOR SAFETY AND SECURITY CHECKLIST

Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Site is a facility of the Department of the Interior, United States Government. The law (29 CFR 1960) directs all Federal Government Agencies to comply with all provisions of OSHA Regulations (29 CFR 1910; 29 CFR 1926) and requires all Federal Government Agencies to insist on contractor compliance with applicable OHSA standards as a condition of the contract.

If you are issued a facility key, follow the conditions of the Key Issue Agreement you signed. If you require access to an area with a higher security level that the key you were issued, you must coordinate access with your COR.

Battlefield sites are of historical and cultural significance to the American People. Follow all COR instructions regarding sensitivity of the site’s historic fabric.

You will contact the National 811 “Call Before You Dig” number prior to any digging. Any material items uncovered during your work process should be regarded as historically significant and reported immediately to the CR.

This site operates under an Environmental Management System based on ISO 14001. Your on-site activities will be in compliance with all EPA and TCEQ regulations and policies. You will not introduce any chemicals onto the site without clearance from the COR. You must provide MSDSs for any chemicals you use on the site. You must substitute environmentally sensitive “green” chemicals for any more hazardous chemicals whenever possible. Coordinate with the COR any Pollution Prevention and recycling initiatives you have for this project.

This site operates under a Health & Safety Management System based on OHSAS 18001. Your on site activities will be in compliance with all OSHA Regulations. Read and discuss with the COR the park’s Annual Documented Health & Safety Plan (CMS-PAAL-DSHP-09). If you have developed a written hazard control plan for the completion of this contract, please provide a copy to the COR.

Discuss with the COR any closures or visitor denial issues you will require to safely complete your work.
