About this file

This document appears to be a set of questions and answers related to Solicitation 140L6224Q0008 for the Casper BLM Riparian Restoration project. The solicitation is for low-tech restoration services within the Meadow Creek watershed, including installation of wicker weave, Zuni bowls, brush mattress, and rock dams. Key details include:

The solicitation clarifies several technical specifications, such as the correct terminology of "rock rundown" vs. "rock laydown", allowing rock sourcing from the Upper Meadow Creek location, and providing guidance on the placement and installation of the wicker weir and brush mattress. Questions Addressed Solicitation: 140L6224Q0008 Casper BLM Riparian Restoration

1. Rock Rundown vs. Rock Laydown. Rock Laydown was listed in Appendix B but should have said Rock Rundown.

a. Please see revised statement of work attached.

2. Can rock be sourced from the location at Upper Meadow Creek?

a. Yes, It can from the hillslope but remove the rock by hand and be careful of creating further erosion issues.

3. For the Wicker Wier at what level do you place the weave and posts?

a. At height of the hummocks. Figure says bank full, but we are going by hummock height.

4. For the Brush Mattress does the mattress have to be covered by 3” of material and can alluvium be used at the site?

a. In the field I answered alluvium can be taken from the hillslope but have changed to the brush mattress does not have to have alluvium cover. Please see revised statement of work attached.

5. Does the material (willows) need to be installed during vegetation dormancy?

a. No, the brush mattress does not have to be installed during vegetation dormancy.

6. Is there another way into the site? A cattle guard might not handle some trailers.

a. There is a backway into the site but is much longer and the road condition is worse.

7. Is there a location where Willows can be sourced on BLM?

a. No, contractor must provide source for willows.

8. If more willows will need to be sourced due to the approximation of the materials needed how will that be handled in the contract?

a. Lengths of wicker weaves and brush mattress are approximated using GIS and Aerial photography. If additional materials are needed due to underestimation of materials needed, then contractor can negotiate with the CO.
