About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding an audiovisual system buildout for conference rooms within the Bureau of Land Management Nevada Region facilities. The responses indicate support for using an HDMI matrix with HDMI outputs rather than an HDBaseT conversion system to avoid unnecessary signal conversions. Microphone volume control is to remain fixed to maintain consistent audio quality for remote participants. Additional on-site time of 6-8 days for the A&B conference room and 4-6 days for the directors conference room is requested to fully complete the room builds and ensure system functionality before returning the spaces to service. Clarification is sought on how VOIP calls would be placed without a client laptop or tablet, with the potential later addition of a ClearOne touch panel controller raised if no other solution is found. The related opportunity is for the uninstall and upfitting of law enforcement patrol vehicles for the Bureau of Land Management Nevada Region under solicitation number 140L3923Q0147.

1. It would be more dependable, simpler and less expensive to use Kramer's equivalent HDMI matrix with HDMI output instead of HDBaset. To me it doesn't make sense to convert video signals from HDMI to Cat6e and then back to HDMI when our longest run is 25ft. We generally use HDbaset when HDMI cable length exceeds 50ft. (see spec sheet below for proposed Matrix). *** This works for BLM NV our max distance for the presenter is going to be 25ft. ***

2. In my professional opinion it is better to not allow mic level control via the touchpad controller. When we set up these systems mic volume is set to a specific level to maintain consistent audio quality on every call. When these levels are adjusted the quality of the call degrades for far end participants who will either have issues hearing because mics are down or hear acoustic echo because they are too high. *** BLM agree best to keep system calibration set and avoid errant adjustments etc. ***

3. I need more time on-site to get this done if possible: A & B Conference Room 6-8 days on-site, Directors Conference Room 4-6 days on-site. ***BLM Supports this time window to ensure room build is complete and tested before returning to service. ***

Voip calls would need to be made using this app which would run on the clients laptop or tablet. I just wanted to make sure that the BLM did not have a different expectation as to how VOIP calls would be made. - *** The contract COR is checking with potential AV team members in the IT HQ team to see if they have additional information on this front. That said if an answer cannot be found would it be possible to later add a ClearOne’s Touch Panel Controller to allow dialing without a client laptop? ***

An AV Rack will be provided.
