Axolotl Lakes Road Surfacing and Realignment Site Tour Questions
1. What is the extent of disturbance that can be caused on either side of the existing road while surfacing?
The extent of disturbance that can be caused on either side of the road shall be as minimum as possible. If the road needs to be built up or cut down in certain areas, then material can be moved around to where it is needed.
2. Will the road need to be closed the whole-time during construction? Will people still be able to access the Cabin?
The cabin will need to be accessible for people who have paid to stayed there. The cabin can be accessed from both sides of the road, so it will be the responsibility of the contractor to provide proper signage to allow travelers to know which way they can access the cabin.
3. Will this contract require a SWPPP permit?
All permitting requirements, including the SWPPP, are the sole responsibility of the contractor. Since the disturbance of the realignment will be greater than an acre, a SWPPP permit will be required. The SWPPP permit can be transferred over to the Government once the contract is finished according to the specs and drawings.
4. Is the government going to be doing the surveying for the realignment?
Yes, the government will be doing the surveying for the realignment.
5. Where will excess material need to be wasted at?
Excess material will be wasted on site in locations determined by the Government.
6. Will blasting be allowed?
Blasting will be allowed only if the contractor has the proper training, licensing, and meet any regulatory requirements to perform it.
7. Where will the staging area be located at?
Staging area for equipment will be located east of the road at the top of the hill right before the alignment section.
8. Where they’ll be any restrictions due to fire concerns in the area?
As of right now it’s to early to tell if there will be restrictions on construction due to fire concerns. Once the contract has started and this does become an issue then will have to follow any restrictions that are given for construction.
