About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to a federal contract solicitation for well abandonment services. The solicitation is for the Witmer Lease Orphan Well Abandonment Project issued by the Bureau of Land Management California Region. The questions and answers indicate that primary cement is present behind casing for all wells, and that cement plugs alone should be used for plugging with no need for mud spacers between plugs. Site visit attendance is also noted for August 10, 2021.

WITMER WELLS SOLICITAION 140L1221R0011 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1: Do we need to verify cement on the backside? This will determine if we need to utilize wireline operations or not.

There is good primary cement behind casing for all the wells.

2: It states all portions of the hole not plugged with cement shall be filled with inert. For plugging purposes our recommendation would be to fill the hole from the designated depth (if achievable to reach), all the way to the surface eliminating the need to spot mud in the hole between plugs. We wanted to verify this is acceptable.

This statement was removed from the original statement of work. No mud spacer is required. All plugs are cement plugs including spaces in between plugs should also be cement. (The mud plugs were used for very deep wells).
