About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Solicitation 140G0325Q0088, related to Acoustic Transmitters for the US Geological Survey. The document contains four specific technical questions and answers about ATS SS400 acoustic tags, including the precise model specification (SS400-SB Acoustic Transmitter, Gen IV, JSAT Coding, Injectable, BR306), tag performance requirements (90-day guaranteed life at +156 dB output for 5-second interval), and delivery timeline. The Q&A clarifies that the first 400 tags are required ASAP or before July 1, 2025, with the contract award anticipated around mid-May. The responses provide technical details to help potential vendors understand the exact specifications and expectations for the acoustic transmitter tags needed for the Juvenile Salmonid Acoustic Telemetry Systems project.

1. We would like to know the specific model of the ATS SS400 tag currently being utilized. Reviewing ATS’s publicly available product sheet, they indicate three different model types for the SS400.

A: ATS, SS400-SB Acoustic Transmitter, Gen IV, JSAT Coding, Injectable, BR306.

2. I do have one question regarding the specification of “Transmitters must be the smallest acoustic tag available that meets the life and output

A: At the standard output of +156 dB re: 1uPa @ 1 meter; we require a 90 day tag life for a 5-sec interval tag.

3. In our industry we typically have two tag life estimates. One is the warranty or guaranteed life of the tag, and the other is the estimated life of the tag that is longer, but has greater variance. Is the 90 days expected to be the warranty period for the tag?

A: Guaranteed life.

4. When would you estimate the award to be executed and if the 1st of July delivery date for the first 400 tags is firm?

A: The required delivery date for the first 400 tags is ASAP or before July 1 to ensure the project to start on time. The award is anticipated around Mid-May.
