Area to be planted totals 200 acres on two parcels of the Big Muddy National Fish and Wildlife Refuge (NFWR) Overton Bottoms South Unit. Planting will occur around wetland areas and in some cases along the perimeter. Planting parcels are currently in native warm season grasses and wildflowers and will be diversified with the planting of additional native grasses, forbs and legumes. Planting sites may be prepared for native seeding by NFWR staff using prescribed fire prior to contractor seeding, but site preparation is weather dependent and not a given. Potential contractors should be prepared to plant into the existing native grassland stand if necessary. See Attachment 1 for location map.
