About this file
This document is an Amendment to Request for Quote (RFQ) number 1333ND24QNB030267 issued by the Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for a Near-Infrared Spectrometer. The amendment provides answers to five questions related to the technical specifications of the required spectrometer. Key points include:
The spectrometer must measure electroluminescence from a chip, not photoluminescence, and have both free-space and fiber optic input/output ports. NIST will provide the output SMA fiber but the spectrometer must include a free-space-to-SMA coupler. There is only one SMA fiber input required, not two as initially stated. The response date for this RFQ has not changed at this time. Vendors should direct any additional questions and quotations to the Contract Specialist via email.

Amendment 2 Date: June 11, 2024 No. of Pages: 1
This Amendment provides answers to the five (5) questions below:
1. Is this a PL spectrometer with excitation and emission monochromator? Not exactly, but it is similar. The emission from the device under test results from electrical stimulation, not optical stimulation as in PL.
2. Are entrance and exit being defined in terms of excitation and emission or is this electroluminescence from the chip? This is electroluminescence from the chip. Entrance and excitation are defined relative to the monochromator. Entrance is the port where light enters the monochromator. Exit is the port where light leaves the monochromator. There are two entrance ports (one free-space and one fiber) and two exit ports (one free-space and one fiber).
3. Will the “exit” SMA fiber be provided by NIST as well? The exit SMA fiber will be provided by NIST, but the monochromator should include a free-space-to-SMA coupler.
4. Can you clarify what your difference between imaging fiber and SMA fiber is? There is no difference. The imaging fiber is just a name for the SMA fiber that will collect the light at the exit port and couple it to a detector.
5. The statement “Must have entrance SMA fiber adapter, and entrance imaging fiber adapter for 2µm wavelength.” makes it seem like two fiber adaptors will be required at the same time. Can you clarify if this is the case or not? This is not the case. There will only be one SMA fiber entering the monochromator.
There is no change to the response date at this time.
