About this file

This document is Amendment 1 to RFQ Number 1333ND24QNB030267 for a Near-Infrared Spectrometer, issued by the Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The amendment clarifies two changes to the technical specifications: 1) The requirement for 2 free-space inputs and outputs has been changed to 1 free-space and 1 fiber input and output, to be used for coupling the signal into and out of the spectrometer. 2) NIST will provide the required SMA fiber, rather than the vendor needing to supply it. Additionally, the response due date has been extended from June 14 to June 18, 2024.

Amendment 1 Date: June 10, 2024 No. of Pages: 1

This Amendment reflects the following changes and clarifications to the specifications listed in the solicitation, in response to two (2) questions:

1. Technical spec A says that 2 free space inputs and outputs are required. Can you clarify what these inputs and outputs would be for? Are these for CW lasers at a certain excitation or would NIST be providing their own white light sources for excitation?

· Technical specification A is being changed from “2 free-space and1 fiber inputs in addition to 2 free-space and 1 fiber outputs”, to one (1) free-space and one (1) fiber inputs in addition to one (1) free-space and one (1) fiber outputs.

· The free-space input and output will be used to couple our signal into and out of the spectrometer. The signal will be generated by a chip, collected with a microscope, and directed into the spectrometer using mirrors.

2. Technical spec H says that entrance SMA fiber adaptors are required. Will an SMA fiber be provided by NIST or is the “for 2um wavelength” statement requesting an SMA fiber that works out to 2um.

· Technical specification H is clarified to state that NIST will provide an SMA fiber.

In addition, this Amendment also extends the response date from June 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m EST, to June 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m EST.
